5 Romantic Valentine’s Day Proposal Ideas
February is officially the month of love! With February 14th traditionally one of the most popular dates in the calendar for people to propose, and the 29th February being reserved for those ladies that want to get down on one knee there are plenty of dates in the calendar to make your move this month.
All marriage proposals are special - I absolutely love chatting with couples about their proposal stories, whether it was a quiet shared moment between two soul-mates or a spectacular moment, they are always stories I love to hear a couple share. There is something extra special about a proposal on Valentine’s Day - maybe it’s all that magic cupid dust in the air - but it can sometimes feel a bit of a struggle to find that special moment that is unique and personalised… So here are some ideas to get you started!
Recreate your first date
Our first dates are somehow unforgettable moments in our relationships. And why not enter the next stage of your relationship, where you started it. Book a table at the restaurant you first met at - or if you’re feeling creative why not attempt to recreate the meal in your kitchen?
Didn’t dine for your first date? No problem! Why not throw an at-home movie night, and snuggle under some blankets whilst rewatching the film you first saw in the cinema? Or take a stroll around the park you first bumped into each other…
Nothing could be more thoughtful than trying to recapture a moment in your relationship.
Make a treasure hunt
Imagine the scene - candlelight, soft music… and a note to solve….
Treat your special someone to a little quest, challenge their skills by leaving little notes for them to find - and when they get to the end of the treasure hunt, they find their prize - you on one knee!
Include the kids
If you have children, then a marriage is not just the joining of two people, it can be the coming together of two families - and that is something magical that can be celebrated too. Why not dress the kids up in their finest, and give them a role to play in asking the question?
A night away
Make the moment all about you and whisk your special someone away for a night of romance. Whether that’s a nice hotel, or if a night camping under the stars is more your vibe, taking the time together just the two of you will make the moment really special.
Incorporate their favourite thing
Show that you know your partner inside and out by popping the question in a moment that’s all about them. Why not hide the ring in a breakable chocolate mould for your sweet-toothed partner? Or, fill a room with their favourite flowers. Find that thing that really means a lot to them, and build it into your proposal.
However you choose to propose, it’s a big moment for both of you. The spotlight is on you for that moment that you ask the question, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to make sure that your partner knows that you are thinking all about them and the life you’ve already shared together.
This is the start of the next phase of your relationship - congratulations!
